※スミス＆ウェッソン・モデル3は、スミス・アンド・ウェッソン（S&W）が1870年ごろから1915年ごろまで製造していた単発式、カートリッジ式、トップブレイク式リヴォルヴァーであり、最近になってスミス・アンド・ウェッソンとウベルティ Ubertiによってふたたび複製品として提供されるようになった。このモデルにはいくつかのヴァリエーションとサブヴァリエーションがあり、ロシア帝国の軍に供給されたことからその名が付けられた“ロシア”モデル（1871年に帝政ロシア軍によって41,000挺のNo. 3が .44口径で発注された）と、騎兵隊のニーズを満たすためにモデル3に独自の改良を加えたジョージ W. スコフィールド少佐 Major George W. Schofieldにちなんで名付けられた“スコフィールド”モデルがある。スミス＆ウェッソンはこれらの改良を少佐の名を冠した1875年の設計に取り入れ、新しいリヴォルヴァーの重要な軍事契約を獲得することを計画していた
